Itero Element Intraoral Scanner - The Newest Addition To Our Family

Itero Element Intraoral Scanner - The Newest Addition To Our Family

What do you dislike most about orthodontic procedures? Is it the thought of constantly having something on your teeth or not being able to indulge in your favorite foods? One of the most common orthodontic procedures is straightening teeth. Traditionally, metal braces were used to straighten crooked teeth. Technological advancements in the oral care has provided another solution to achieving that perfect smile: Invisalign. In fact, Dr. Evelina Tolchinsky at Signature Smile General and Cosmetic is an Invisalign specialist, serving Brooklyn residents for than a decade.

For those patients who already have Invisalign, you have most likely taken an entire album full of x-rays and even more intraoral photographs. However, what’s worse than all of both of these is infamous, gag-inducing impressions or molds of your teeth that your dentist requires to accurately assess your oral health.

At Signature Smile General and Cosmetic Dentistry we are constantly seeking out solutions to make impressions less invasive and more comfortable for our patients. In an effort to make our patients less anxious about impressions, we have acquired an Itero Element Intraoral Scanner. As such, we have eliminated the need for old-fashioned, messy impressions. Better yet, it will enable us to provide you with the most detailed and accurate dental care.

How Does The Itero Scanner Work?

The Itero Scanner works by scanning each tooth, as well as your gums and mouth. It provides dental professionals a 3-D view of your mouth in as little as 10-15 minutes. Once the scan is complete, we are able to view a simulation of your Invisalign or braces treatment. This data can then be send wirelessly to Invisalign or other Orthodontic labs with a touch of a button.

Why Is The Itero Scanner Better Than Traditional Molds?

With the use of the Itero Scanner, patient education and oral hygiene instruction is taken to the next level. The 3-D real time provides representation of our patients’ oral health condition. As such, patients are engaged and given a perspective that was otherwise impossible. Furthermore, traditional molds do not accurately portray a patient’s oral health.

In addition, old school poured models simply does not provide the impact that our patients need to be properly educated and increasingly engaged in their oral health. The Itero scanner gives us the opportunity not only to connect with our patients, but to also share with our patients the trauma experienced by their teeth and gums. As a result, patients are more concerned about addressing the stress put on their teeth and gums.

What Else Does the Itero Scanner Do?

The scanner also allows us to detect any underlying problem that may hinder or delay your Invisalign or braces treatment. Stay tuned for next weeks article in which our professionals will discuss how the Intero Scanner can be used for crowns, bridges and porcelain restorations.

Dr. Evelina Tolchinsky, DDS and Dr. Inna Trogan DDS are excited to see the difference that the Itero Scanner makes to our patients and our office.
