How to Keep Your Teeth White After Treatment

How to Keep Your Teeth White After Treatment

Have you ever had your teeth whitened? If so, then you know how great it feels to look in the mirror and see your new radiant white smile. But whether you use an in-home whitening kit or you have it professionally done in our Brooklyn Heights office, we are here to give you a few tips on how to keep your teeth white after the bleaching process.

Food is a key factor when it comes to maintaining your new color. We know that certain foods can stain your teeth, but did you know that others can help keep them white?

Fruits and veggies that are more firm can help scrub your teeth while you chew them. Some examples would be apples, carrots, celery, green beans, and cauliflower. These foods also increase saliva production which helps break down acids that can affect your teeth

Foods high in calcium, such as milk and cheese, can also help keep your teeth white while preventing tooth decay. So it’s a win-win!

Foods to avoid or have in moderation after a teeth whitening treatment are coffee, red or white wines, soda, soy sauce, blueberries, and any tobacco products.

It is important to mention that multiple whitening sessions can lead to tooth sensitivity, so be sure to talk to your dentist about whether a treatment is right for you.

If you have any other questions about teeth whitening, be sure to give our Brooklyn Heights dental office a call to set up an appointment. We would be happy to discuss how we can give you the smile you always dreamed of!
