What Are Dental Veneers?

Veneers are thin, custom-made porcelain shells that Dr. Trogan places over the front surface of your teeth to enhance their appearance. Made from porcelain, a highly stain-resistant material that mimics the natural look of teeth, veneers offer a permanent solution to cosmetic dental issues. Dr. Trogan custom-fits each veneer to the individual tooth, bonding them in place to cover imperfections and protect your teeth from further damage.

Porcelain veneers are one of the most conservative restorations available. Unlike crowns, which cover an entire tooth, veneers only require minimal enamel removal, preserving most of your natural tooth structure. They are designed to change the color and shape of your teeth, giving them a fresh new look without replacing the whole tooth. The veneer process typically requires two appointments: during the first, the tooth is prepared for the veneer, and a couple of weeks later, the veneer is permanently bonded to the tooth. This minimally invasive procedure makes veneers an essential tool in cosmetic dentistry

What can veneers fix?

Once your plan is in place, your provider shaves off some of the enamel from the surface of your teeth to make room for your veneers.When your teeth are fully prepared, your dental professional takes an impression of your teeth and sends them to a lab to create your custom veneers.

When your veneers are ready, you return to the practice where Dr. Trogan custom-fits your veneers individually over each tooth. Dr. Trogan then applies your veneers with a special dental cement that bonds them securely, making them permanent. Once your veneers are placed and bonded, you walk out the door with a brand new smile.

How long do veneers last?

Your veneers can last 10-15 years and maybe even longer when you practice excellent oral hygiene habits, which include brushing at least twice daily and flossing at least once a day.
